7 Day Mount Kilimanjaro Machame Route & 3 Day Northern Tanzania Safari

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by our professional representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.
This day is dedicated to rest after your international flight and preparation for the adventure ahead.

In the afternoon or evening, you will meet your Kilimanjaro head guide for a full briefing. During this session:

• The trekking program will be explained day by day

• Your trekking gear will be checked

• Any missing equipment can be rented

• Final questions will be answered

Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Arusha.

After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Machame Gate (approx. 1.5–2 hours).
Here, registration and park formalities are completed while porters organize equipment.

You begin trekking through the dense rainforest, a beautiful and humid environment rich in vegetation, birds, and monkeys. The trail is gradual, allowing your body to start adapting to altitude.

You will arrive at Machame Camp in the afternoon. Your team will have already set up camp. Enjoy a hot meal, relax, and spend the night surrounded by forest sounds.

Today’s trek takes you out of the rainforest into heather and moorland landscapes.
As you gain altitude, the forest slowly disappears and wide mountain views open up.

The walk is steady and not technical, giving you time to enjoy the scenery and breathe calmly.
In the afternoon, you arrive at Shira Camp, located on the Shira Plateau, one of the oldest volcanic areas of Kilimanjaro.

This day plays an important role in early acclimatization. Dinner and overnight at Shira Camp.

This is a key day for altitude adjustment.
You hike uphill toward Lava Tower (4,600 m), where you have lunch. The altitude may feel challenging, but this is intentional to help your body adapt.

After lunch, you descend to Barranco Camp, which is located lower. This “climb high, sleep low” method greatly improves summit success.

Barranco Camp offers stunning views of the Barranco Wall and glaciers. The evening is for rest, hydration, and recovery.

Today you hike to Barafu Camp, your base camp for the summit attempt.
The terrain is alpine desert—rocky, dry, and colder.

You arrive by early afternoon. After lunch:

• Rest and sleep as much as possible

• Receive a full summit briefing

• Prepare your summit gear

An early dinner is served before you go to sleep. You will wake up late at night for the summit climb.

Around midnight, you begin the summit ascent under the stars.
The climb is slow and steady, with frequent breaks.

At sunrise, you reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m)—the highest point in Africa. Time is given for photos and celebration.

After descending back to Barafu Camp for a short rest, you continue down to Mweka Camp, located in the rainforest zone.
Dinner and overnight at Mweka Camp.

After breakfast, descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you sign out of the park.

You will receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificates.
Transfer back to your hotel in Arusha for a hot shower, rest, and celebration evening.

This overnight stay allows full recovery before starting the safari.

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire is famous for:

• Large elephant herds

• Giant baobab trees

• Lions, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes

Enjoy a full game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park.
In the late afternoon, drive to your safari lodge for dinner and overnight.

Early breakfast, then drive to Ngorongoro Crater.
Descend into the crater for a game drive in one of the world’s most unique wildlife areas. Here you may see:

• Lions, elephants, buffalo

• Rhinos

• Hippos and flamingos

After breakfast, you will depart for Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic and diverse wildlife destinations. The park is set at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, offering a beautiful contrast of lush forest, open grassland, and the alkaline lake itself.

Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior seen in only a few places in Africa. During your game drive, you may also encounter large troops of baboons and blue monkeys, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and a wide variety of birdlife, including flamingos, pelicans, and storks. The lush groundwater forest provides a refreshing and unique safari atmosphere, very different from the open plains of the Serengeti.

You will enjoy a leisurely game drive through the park, with stops for wildlife viewing and photography. Depending on time and wildlife activity, you may also visit scenic viewpoints overlooking the lake and the Rift Valley escarpment.

After the game drive, you will begin your drive to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward journey. The drive takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Along the way, you will pass through local towns and countryside, offering a final glimpse of everyday life in northern Tanzania.

You will arrive at JRO in good time for your international or regional flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Kilimanjaro and Tanzania safari adventure.
