Day 1
Marangu Gate (1,870m) – Mandara Hut (2,720m)

After breakfast, depart Arusha or Moshi and drive to Marangu Gate for registration and trek preparations. Begin your climb through the beautiful rainforest, where you may encounter colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and a variety of bird species.

The trail gradually ascends to Mandara Hut, your first overnight stop on the mountain.

Optional Maundi Crater Hike

On Day 1, climbers may choose to take an optional hike to Maundi Crater for a gentle acclimatization experience. Located near Mandara Hut, the short walk offers beautiful views of the surrounding rainforest, mountain slopes, and, weather permitting, the landscapes beyond Kilimanjaro. It is a relaxing way to spend extra time at altitude and begin adjusting to the mountain environment before continuing the trek.

Day 2
Mandara Hut (2,720m) – Horombo Hut (3,720m)

After breakfast, continue your ascent through the moorland zone. As you gain altitude, the vegetation changes dramatically, offering spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak.

Arrive at Horombo Hut in the afternoon and enjoy time to relax while acclimatizing to the higher altitude.

Day 3
Horombo Hut (3,720m) – Kibo Hut (4,700m)

Today’s trek takes you across the alpine desert zone between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. The landscape becomes more rugged and barren as you approach Kibo Hut, the base camp for the summit attempt.

After an early dinner, rest and prepare for the midnight summit climb.

Day 4
Kibo Hut (4,700m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Around midnight, begin your final ascent to Uhuru Peak via Gilman’s Point. This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek.

Reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, in time for sunrise and celebrate your achievement with unforgettable photos at the Roof of Africa.

After spending some time at the summit, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for overnight.

Day 5

After breakfast, continue your descent through the rainforest to Marangu Gate.

Upon arrival, receive your summit certificates before meeting your driver for transfer back to Moshi or Arusha.

This marks the end of your Mount Kilimanjaro adventure.
