9-Day Migration Footsteps Safari – River Crossing Experience

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our airport staff, who will assist with any visa or luggage needs. Your safari guide will then transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha for rest and overnight stay. Arusha, nestled at the base of Mount Meru, serves as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. It’s a peaceful town surrounded by coffee plantations and provides a gentle introduction to the adventures ahead.

After breakfast, your safari officially begins with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, a gem known for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. You’ll enjoy a full-day game drive across Tarangire’s acacia woodlands and riverine landscapes. Your driver-guide will set up a hot bush lunch, and you’ll continue exploring until sunset, when you retire to your luxury tented camp deep inside the park. Expect sightings of lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and various antelope species.

This morning, experience the bush up close with a guided walking safari—a thrilling opportunity to track animals on foot and learn about the ecosystem from a local expert. Return to the vehicle for a mid-morning game drive followed by a hot lunch served under the shade. In the afternoon, explore less-traveled areas of Tarangire where oryx, gerenuk, and hundreds of elephants roam in peace. You’ll return to camp in time to relax before a delicious dinner under the stars.

Today you’ll drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions and diverse birdlife. Enjoy a morning game drive followed by a unique treetop canopy walk, where you’ll get a bird’s-eye view of the forest. More than 400 bird species inhabit this park, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. After a hot lunch served in the bush, you’ll head to your next lodge, located close to the Ngorongoro Highlands.

After breakfast, descend into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera—Ngorongoro Crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is teeming with wildlife, including the Big Five. You’ll enjoy a full-day game drive on the crater floor, where lions, rhinos, elephants, hippos, and flamingos coexist in an otherworldly setting. In the evening, head to your migration camp for a hot shower, a warm dinner, and stories around the campfire.

Today is entirely dedicated to tracking the Great Migration. You’ll spend the day along the Mara River, where herds cross in both directions depending on rain and grazing. Watch as wildebeests plunge into the river, followed closely by predators lurking at every turn. It’s a raw, primal spectacle that defines the Serengeti. After a packed hot lunch in the wild, return to camp for your final night in the bush.

After an early breakfast and one last game drive in the northern plains, you’ll be transferred to Kogatende Airstrip for your scenic flight back to Arusha. Upon arrival, enjoy a farewell lunch at a local hotel before transferring to your hotel or the airport for your international departure.
