7-Day Romantic Safari of the Wildebeest Migration

7-Day Romantic Safari of the Wildebeest Migration

This is a unique tour focused on the Serengeti to witness the Great Migration. You will spend at least four nights in the park—typically two in the Central Area, known for its large concentrations of big cats, and two in the area where the migration is located at that time of year. The tour is designed to conclude in one of the most remote parts of the Serengeti, from where you can fly to your next destination. Alternatively, the itinerary can be adjusted to return to Arusha by road.

Day 1
Lake Manyara National Park

You’ll be picked up from your hotel at 8:00 am and set off on a scenic journey across the Great Rift Valley for a full-day game drive. Though relatively small at 205 sq miles, the park boasts stunning landscapes, including lush acacia forests, giant fig and mahogany trees, and a growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. Permanent residents include giraffes, elephants, impalas, and large herds of buffalo. The lake is also home to many hippos, and game drives along its shores offer incredible photo opportunities with giraffes and buffalo in the foreground and the lake in the background. Optional activities include a bike tour or a boat excursion. In the afternoon, you’ll return to the camp for dinner.

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater is regarded as one of the Wonders of the Natural World. Spanning 102 sq miles with 2,000-ft high walls, it is home to almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa, including the rare black rhino. The crater features a river, swamps, a soda lake with large flamingo populations, forests, and open plains. It is also renowned for its elephants, which are the largest in the world and boast impressive tusks.

The day begins with an early transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, followed by a descent to the crater floor for an unforgettable morning of wildlife viewing. After a rewarding afternoon game drive, you will ascend the crater and transfer to your accommodation.

Day 3
Serengeti National park (Central)

After an early breakfast, depart for one of the most famous national parks in the world, the Serengeti. The drive, though long, is breathtaking and unforgettable for first-time visitors. As you venture deeper into the Serengeti, you will understand why its name means “endless plains” in the local language. Covering 6,900 sq miles (18,000 sq km), the park’s vast plains stretch to the horizon, creating a sense of limitless space. The Serengeti is home to the Great Migration, with two million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and numerous antelope species. It is also a prime location to spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, with many iconic wildlife scenes—such as river crossings—filmed here.

After the game drive, return to the camp for a satisfying brunch. You will then proceed to the airstrip for your flight back to Arusha or onward to your next destination, such as Zanzibar.
