Day 1
Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Your climb begins with a scenic drive to Marangu Gate (1,860 m), where you’ll register and meet your mountain team. The first stretch takes you through a vibrant rainforest zone, rich with birds, monkeys, and exotic plants. It’s a relatively gentle 8 km trek, taking about 4–5 hours. The trail is well-kept and shaded, helping you ease into the journey while gradually gaining elevation. By the time you reach Mandara Hut (2,700 m), you’ll have glimpses of the stunning Maundi Crater and a sense of what lies ahead. Enjoy dinner, rest, and get ready for a higher climb tomorrow.

Meals Plan:

Lunch, Dinner
Day 2
Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Leaving the rainforest, today’s 12 km trek takes you into moorland terrain filled with giant heathers and volcanic rock formations. You’ll gain over 1,000 meters in elevation, so it’s important to maintain a steady pace and stay hydrated. Along the way, you’ll pass Maundi Crater—a great viewpoint of both Mount Kilimanjaro and neighboring Mount Mawenzi. As you approach Horombo Hut (3,720 m), the panoramic views are truly rewarding. This zone begins to feel more exposed and open, but also incredibly scenic. You’ll have time to rest, adjust to the higher altitude, and prepare for the alpine challenges ahead

Day 3
Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Today’s 10 km hike leads you into the stark beauty of the alpine desert. The vegetation fades and the terrain becomes rocky, with scattered volcanic remnants and strange alpine flora like giant lobelias. The climb is steady, and though not extremely steep, the altitude starts to be felt more strongly. You’ll trek toward Kibo Hut (4,700 m), located in a desolate saddle between the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Here, you’ll rest early, eat a hearty dinner, and sleep for a few hours before the midnight summit attempt. Hydration and mental focus are key today.

Meals Plan:

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4
Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut

The toughest and most thrilling day begins at midnight. You’ll make your summit attempt under a starlit sky, trekking slowly up steep, switchback paths to Gilman’s Point (5,685 m), then on to Stella Point (5,750 m), and finally to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m)—the highest point in Africa. Sunrise from the summit is a once-in-a-lifetime sight. After photos and celebrations, you’ll descend back to Kibo Hut for a rest, then continue downhill to Horombo Hut (3,720 m). This 21 km day can take 12–14 hours total. You’ll be exhausted, but deeply fulfilled.

Meals Plan:

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5
Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

The final leg is a 20 km descent back through moorland and lush forest to Marangu Gate. As you walk through familiar terrain, you’ll reflect on the incredible journey—filled with physical challenges and emotional triumphs. Once you arrive at the gate, your summit certificate will be issued. You’ll be met by your driver and transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, where you can rest and enjoy a warm shower.

Meals Plan:
