10 Days Mount Meru Climb & Northern Tanzania Safari

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you are warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.

In the evening, your mountain guide conducts a comprehensive briefing covering the Mount Meru climb, safety guidelines, daily schedule, and equipment check. Proper preparation is essential for high-altitude trekking, and rental gear is available if needed.

This day allows you to rest, recover from travel, and mentally prepare for the climb.

Overnight in Arusha.

After breakfast, transfer to Momella Gate for registration. An armed ranger accompanies the group due to wildlife presence in the park.

The trek begins across open grasslands where giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and antelope are often seen. Gradually, the trail enters lush montane forest filled with birds and colobus monkeys.

The steady ascent allows your body to begin gradual acclimatization.

Hiking time: 4–5 hours
Overnight: Miriakamba Hut

The trail becomes steeper as you climb through forest into heath and moorland vegetation zones.

Upon arrival at Saddle Hut, enjoy dramatic views of Meru Crater and the Ash Cone. An optional acclimatization hike toward Little Meru may be taken to enhance altitude adaptation.

Hiking time: 3–5 hours
Overnight: Saddle Hut

Around midnight, begin the summit ascent. The climb is steady and rewarding, culminating in sunrise views over Mount Kilimanjaro.

Reaching Socialist Peak is a major achievement and provides both confidence and acclimatization benefits.

After celebration and photos, descend carefully back to Miriakamba Hut.

Descend through scenic forest trails to Momella Gate. Receive your Mount Meru summit certificate before transferring back to Arusha.

Enjoy a hot shower and well-earned rest before beginning your safari adventure.

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees.

Game drives focus along the Tarangire River, a vital water source that attracts diverse wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and numerous bird species.

Overnight at lodge or tented camp near Tarangire.

Drive toward Serengeti National Park via scenic highlands and rural landscapes.

Upon entering the Serengeti, enjoy an afternoon game drive across vast plains rich with wildlife. The park supports large predator populations and seasonal wildebeest migrations.

Spend a full day exploring different areas of the Serengeti ecosystem.

Your guide tracks wildlife movements to maximize sightings. Expect opportunities to see lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and vast grazing herds.

Morning game drive in Serengeti before traveling toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Arrive at the crater rim with breathtaking panoramic views over the Ngorongoro Crater.

Overnight at lodge on the crater rim or nearby.

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive.

The crater floor supports one of the densest wildlife populations in Africa, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, and possibly the endangered black rhino.

After picnic lunch, ascend the crater and return to Arusha or transfer to the airport for departure.
