The dry seasons — June to October and December to March — are the most popular times to visit, offering easier game viewing on the mainland alongside warm, sunny days in Zanzibar. June to October coincides with the Great Migration river crossings in the Serengeti, making it a favorite pairing for first-time safari-and-beach travelers. December to March brings calving season on the southern plains, with warm, dry conditions on the islands as well.
The green season (April–May and November) sees fewer crowds and lush landscapes on safari, along with quieter beaches and lower rates in Zanzibar — a great option for travelers prioritizing value and solitude over peak-season crowds.
The most popular travel window falls during the dry seasons — December to March and June to October. December to March is generally warmer on the mainland with clearer skies, while Zanzibar stays hot and dry, ideal for beach relaxation after a safari.
